Six ways in, whether you want to buy a specific piece, keep the leather you own alive, or just learn enough to shop with confidence.
Leather Bags
Backpacks, handbags, totes and weekenders compared on grade and construction — the pieces most worth buying in full-grain and keeping for decades.
Leather Wallets
Bifolds, slim minimalist and RFID wallets for men and women — compared on stated grade and how they carry, not marketing.
Leather Belts
Dress, casual and full-grain belts compared on grade and buckle — the accessory where the difference between full-grain and bonded shows up fastest.
Leather Briefcases
Briefcases, laptop bags and work satchels compared on grade, laptop fit and format — the leather bag you carry every workday.
Leather Care
Conditioners, cleaners and repair kits compared, plus plain how-to guides — the reason buy-it-for-life leather actually lasts a life.
Leather Guides
The literacy that makes you a confident buyer: grades, tanning, real vs. fake leather, patina and the buy-it-for-life math — the trust engine of the site.
Why trust a site that hasn’t handled every bag?
Because we don’t pretend otherwise. Most “we tested 20 wallets” lists didn’t, and can’t prove they did. Here is what we do instead — and every bit of it is checkable against the maker’s own listing.
We read the grade, not the marketing
Every pick is reasoned from the published leather grade, tannage and hardware — the specs that decide how long a piece lasts — not a claim we can't verify.
Prices are live and dated
Numbers come from a daily retailer check and carry the date they were pulled. If the check stops, the price disappears rather than going stale.
“Not published” is a finding
When a listing won't state its leather grade, we print “Not published” rather than guessing. A brand that hides the grade is telling you something.
We say when to buy cheaper
A pricier bag isn't automatically better. Where a cheaper or better-made option wins for the buyer, that's our pick — commission never decides it.
No fake reviews, ever
There are no invented testimonials, star ratings or 'we carried it for a year' claims anywhere on this site. If we can't source it, it isn't here.
One honest author
Written by an enthusiast who reads the spec sheets and does the buy-it-for-life math — not a master leatherworker, and not a lab we don't have.

Full-grain vs. top-grain leather
The one comparison that decides most leather purchases — what each grade is, how they age, and when each makes sense.

How this site is funded
Veg Tan Club is free to read because some of the links to products are affiliate links: if you buy through one, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. It never changes which product we recommend — the reasoning is the same whether a link earns us anything or not.
